Getting Motivated

Are there moments in your life when you are unhappy with your own self? You want to do some thing very badly but are afraid to do? You don’t get motivated to do anything, you feel too lazy. How do you motivate or encourage yourself?

There are two things known to motivate human beings
1. Fear of pain
2. Rewards of pleasure

Suppose you want to paint one wall of your room.

Make a list of all the pain you will experience if you paint the wall,
for example: you may get tired, or it is messy, or it may cost money, or whatever else you can think of.

Then make a list of what the pleasure you will get after painting the wall, for example: the room will look beautiful, your friends will praise you, you will feel good

Then make a list of all the pleasure you will miss out if you don’t paint your room. You will have no sense of satisfaction from not having completed the task, you may feel guilty of your laziness,

Make your list as long as possible. The better the list, the easier it will be for you to get on with the job at hand.

If it is a long-term task review your list daily and whenever you need to throughout the day. Also, if it is a long-term task, break it down into small manageable pieces. Write them down on a list and cross them off as you complete them. This helps you keep a track of your progress and helps keep you motivated

Of course the other option is - Just Do IT.
