Karan, the naughty boy

Karan is a boy in my play group who is very naughty. He is eight years old but always doing mischief. One day I was playing with my friends. It was 6 O’clock in the evening.
I saw Karan fidgeting with a lighter which he had brought from his home. The lighter also had a torch.

This evening I had also brought my skates with me in a cloth bag. I had decided to skate later during the evening. I kept my bag of skates under a tree in the building compound.

I and my friends were playing ‘chor police’ It is the game in which four friends were robbers and four friends were police. Robbers have to hide and police have to search for robbers and arrest them. During our game, I saw Karan near my bag of skates and I warned him not to touch my bag of skates.

And we continued playing, when suddenly some body shouted, all the children came out from their hiding place, one of my friend said that somebody’s skates had been burnt. I thought it must be only Karan who must have burnt my skates. When I went to see whose skates were burnt, I got shocked to see that it was my skates that were burnt.

I was right, he had lighted the bag of skates and burned it and all the socks and bag were charred and they stuck to the skates. Now I am very unhappy because I cannot skate any more.

Tigers are becoming endangered species.

And if we don’t take care of them, then we might see them no more when we grow up. If they all die and there are no more new tigers born, then we will only have memories of them from some old pictures in the text books or in some picture exhibitions. But we will not be able to see them ever again. Never.

According to the National Tiger Conservation Authority, there has been 60 percent drop in the tiger population across four states. And do you know why there is a drop in their population?

It is because of poaching by people. The tigers are poached for their beautiful skin. Despite international and domestic bans, a thriving black market for tiger skins and bones threatens to wipe out wild tigers. China, with its booming economy, burgeoning human population and ancient traditions of using tiger parts as medicine and clothing, is the world's leading consumer of tiger products.

Another reason why there is drop in their population is because there is loss of their habitat. TIGERS live in hot jungles as well as in cold forests. All wild tigers live in Asia. Some of them also live in the snowy forests of Siberia. Others live in the humid jungles of Sumatra. And some live in the dry grasslands of India.

All the forests are getting destroyed to make buildings, roads and other constructions.

World Wildlife Fund collaborated with other organizations on the scientific study of tiger habitats ever done. The study finds that tigers reside in 40 percent less habitat than they were thought to a decade ago and now occupy only seven percent of their historic range.

The study also finds that conservation efforts have resulted in some populations remaining stable and even increasing, but concludes that long-term success is only achieved where there is broad landscape-level conservation and buy-in from stake hold
Project Tiger was started in 1973-74. It is one of the most successful conservation ventures in the recent times.

The project aims at tiger conservation in specially constituted 'tiger reserves', which are representative of various bio-geographical regions falling within our country. It strives to maintain a viable tiger population in the natural environment.

Do you know that tigers are the biggest cats in the world?

There are five different kinds or sub-species of tiger alive in the world today. Tigers are called Panthera tigris in latin, Bagh in hindi & Bengali, Kaduva in Malayalam & Pedda Puli in telugu..

Earlier there were 8 kinds of tigers but human killing has left only 5 kinds of them. These are

1. Amur (Siberian) tigers
2. Royal Bengal tigers
3. Indo-chinese tigers
4. South China tigers
5. Sumatran tigers

All these types are different in their size, weight, habits and appearance.

My music exam

I like music very much and I had joined singing classes so that I could learn to sing better. I am learning singing from my singing teacher, her name is Mrs.Kavita Sahani.

One day, I was sitting with my friends in the music room. In my music room, we have musical instruments like Harmonium and veenas etc. My teacher teaches me to sing to the rhythm of the beats of a tabla. On that day, I was having my singing exam. There were many other children also, some of my friends were very nervous, but I was not nervous at all. I sang very well that day. After one month, when my mother went to collect my results, she was very happy to know that I had performed very well and had secured first rank.

I am grateful to my teacher for helping me so much that I am able to reach the next third level in music in which raags will become more difficult.

Trip to water king dom

One day I went for a picnic with family and friends. We went to the Water Kingdom. This is a water park for children, which is close to Essel World in Vasai. On the day of my trip I was very excited. I got up early at 6 o clock in the morning and we all got ready to go. On our way to the Water Kingkom by bus, we played antakshary, which is the game of playing bollywood songs and we had lots of food stuff like Samosas, and drinks like Fanta, Sprite and many other things.

After 3hours of long bus ride (there was too much traffic on Mumbai roads) from Bandra we reached Water Kingdom. We swam in the pool all day. There was a big slide in which 5 people could sit and slide down into the pool. I had many races with my friends, sliding down into the pools and we clicked many pictures. I also clicked pictures while hanging down the pole that was at the entrance of the Water Kingdom

On our way back, I was very tired and I slept all the way.I had enjoyed so much that I asked my mom that I would like to go again.

Pirated Movies

There has been many attempts to record “Spiderman” and many of them have been caught and punished.

It is wrong to see pirated movies and we must never encourage it.

There are many people who are dishonest. They go to watch a film and then they record a movie on their video or mobile phone. Now, if they do that then ushers will catch them and they will be punished.

Mumbai multiplexes are on high alert to prevent the recordings of a film by video and mobile cameras. Now they have installed security cameras at various places to avoid any such incidents.

The Motion Picture Association, that looks after the piracy issues, has requested the multiplexes all over to be vigilant.

The security staff has been asked to be extra alert. As a special precaution they have ordered for an exclusive print for their various multiplex properties, which has been safeguarded by the highest authorities of the theatre. It is made sure that the print is not carried out of the theatre premises, in fact, not even out of the projector room. They have a prepared a check list with maximum security measures for the movie, which they maintain for all other movies too.

If you see anybody recording a film on their camera, remember to tell him that he is doing something wrong.

My trip to Tikujiniwadi

One day, I went with my mom's group of friends to Tikujiniwadi, which is in Thane. This is a water park that has two swimming pools with slides in the pool, and also there are many other rides. We swam there all day and also enjoyed all the slides. We also went in lazy pool. This has a rubber tire that passes through tunnels of cold, freezing water.

After we finished swimming and the fun in the pool, we went for go-carting. A go-carting has a group of cars that look like real cars, but it is for kids. I had races with my friend in go-carting.

We had lots of fun and we returned at night.

My trip to Beas

Once, in December, I went to Beas with my family. One day, I took a ride in the rickshaw. I was enjoying myself. Then, suddenly, I fell down and my leg got hurt, it got stuck in the wheel of the rickshaw. But I didn't cry. It pained me so much. I was taken to the hospital that is in Beas. I had to take a tablet and was even given an injection. Then doctor put a bandage on my leg.
We returned back to Mumbai. I was fine after few days.

A380 keeps its date with Mumbai

On Tuesday in the month of May, at 3.30 pm, The Airbus A380 made its first successful landing at Mumbai airport and with this; it is the new concept that is first in the aviation industry.

Since last 40 years, Boeing 747 was the largest aircraft. Now this new one A380 is much bigger than 747. There is 35 percent more space to the passengers and more people will be able to travel now.

This Airplane, A380 has the very latest technologies for materials, systems and industrial processes and meets all the international certification requirements. It offers more seating and more available floor space than its closest competitor; it is more comfortable, with wider seats and aisles. You can also stretch your legs and access to lower-deck amenities. The A380’s modern technology and economies of scale provide 15 per cent lower seat-mile costs than today’s most efficient aircraft. Consequently, the A380 will offer passengers luxury travel at much more affordable prices.

The aircraft manufacturing company’s marketing director is David Velupillai, and he says, “It is a myth carried out by Boeing that the future is in point-to-point flying. In fact it is now bringing back the phased-out 747 simply because it is the hubs that are driving growth in the sector.”

He adds: “We have designed this aircraft to be very quiet with noise insulation as part of the conscious designing.” In India, the Airbus is confident that it will help lessen the crowd at metro airports by absorbing future passenger growth.

Sanjay Sharma, who is a senior analyst in Airbus’ marketing department says, “Emirates, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines would definitely want to bring the aircraft to Indian metros. The airports have to be compatible then. In any case, the Mumbai and Delhi airports will have 10 two-tier aerobridges each by the year 2010.”

Sharma adds that point-to-point travel and business travel is not absolute and is not possible for all routes.

They want to give choice to both, the traveler and also to the airline, to combine their routes in such a way that it serves both the purposes.

So, tell me,where you you wish to go for your next holiday?
Yeeaaah! Yuppppy!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Harry Potter is just a character as in films and not real. It is a character around which R K Rowling spins her stories which all our friends like to read.

We love to read her books. And now the seventh and last Harry Book called ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ will be in released on July 21st.

I know that two characters will die in the seventh book of the potter series, but I cannot give you any clues on who that will be.

This is because JK Rowling appealed to people to leave the ending of the final Harry Potter book as a surprise and not spoil the mystery for fans of the best-selling series about the boy wizard

Actually there was a note on April 28 on fan site, the ‘leaky Cauldron’, saying that it received ‘spoiler’ emails from people claiming to know the contents of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.’

But it is a secret, so don’t you ever tell!

And do you know that the books will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30 percent post-consumer waste fiber?

Yes, it is true!

The statement added that 65 per cent of the 16,700 tons of paper used in the printing will be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a Washington-based civic group that promotes sustainable forest management.

Scholastic said its decision to "invest in environmentally preferable paper" in printing the 784-page tome marked a "significant step in the company's ongoing commitment to responsible environmental stewardship."

The book is to be the final installment of J K Rowling's massively popular series featuring the schoolboy wizard.

The first six books in the Potter series have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and been translated into 63 languages, making Rowling, 41, Britain's highest-earning woman.

And let us all who have, grown up with Harry, to embark on the last adventure. Come on!
